The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has received plenty of mods in the past, with one group of developers even recently making an entire game in its engine.
The second mod was developed by YouTuber Zora Eggs, who links their Citra build to the game in a video description for players to download. It allows the player to toggle the same 60 FPS gameplay Brian Tate showcased through their video.Īll in all, Brian Tate's combination of mods offers a wholly new way to play one of Nintendo's most iconic titles. The YouTuber even confirms that the 60 FPS mod doesn't result in any unforeseen bugs and that the whole game is beatable with the enhanced frame rate enabled. With the ability to dump and load textures on Citra, making texture modding is now easy to do. This whole project started when I wanted to texture MOD Perfect Dark and I stumbled upon Gigapixel and ended up texture packing up 100 games in full HD glory. Some games with smaller texture packs I up-scaled to 1080p like Turok and Mario64 with nice results but didn't look any better then the 512 versions.
I had to keep the file sizes and texture packs to a fair minimum without running into errors even with project 64 large address aware. You can get different texture packs for Ocarina of Time and completed texture packs for other N64 games here, or you can follow the progress of unfinished packs (including Djipi's incredible Majora's Mask texture pack and his 2011 update to Ocarina of Time) right over here. As we know most N64 textures range from 32x,64,128 so I ended up using 512 for best results. I ended up-scaling over 100 games in the last 2 months and up-scaled all the textures to a 512x dimension.
